Lyndsay Russell - MFA Kingston School of Art 2022
“Every day I wake up inspired by the flowing river, the parkland and wildlife that surrounds me — a privilege and a pleasure.”
Lyndsay is an international artist whose multidisciplinary practice spans painting, sculpture, photography, film, sound and text.
With a background as a best-selling author and radio journalist, she brings narrative, research and lived experience into her visual work. She completed a two-year MFA in Fine Art at Kingston School of Art, Kingston University, London, graduating in 2022.
Since leaving university, her work has been exhibited at the Saatchi Gallery, the West Bund Art Centre in Shanghai (often referred to as the Chinese “Tate Modern”), and Kingston Museum's 'Creative Flow,' show. A six-month exhibition, she was honoured as the lead contemporary artist, presenting sculpture, film and installation alongside historic works by Millais and Turner.
Her practice also extends into immersive solo shows combining music, spoken word and visual art.
Internationally, Lyndsay has exhibited at BBK Gallery in Germany representing ten fellow Kingston artists as part of a cultural exchange with the twin town of Oldenburg.
Renowned as the artist who lives and works aboard a Thames houseboat, Lyndsay’s practice is deeply shaped by the river landscape that surrounds her. The rhythms of water, weather, parkland and wildlife inform both her materials and her conceptual approach, with the Thames itself often becoming a collaborator rather than a subject.
