Often using muddy Thames river water, Lyndsay practises alchemy to produce works that flow and swirl, abstract with figurative - a merging of form and fluidity.

Lyndsay Russell’s practice revolves around  other-worlds and hidden dimensions. Many of her works are in-situ process based, using the wind and rhythm of the waters surrounding her boat to move inks, oils and paints across containers of river water. These wave traces of the river’s movements are then transferred to paper, silk or canvas. Currently she is exploring her art in silk form, sculpted in shape and imaged onto canvas to create a unique and striking 3D effect.

"Living on a houseboat, I am strongly inspired by Air and Water. The ancient spiritual axiom “As Above, So Below” speaks to the profound interconnectedness of all things. It suggests that what happens in the heavens is reflected on earth, and that our inner world is mirrored in the outer world around us.

That the invisible and the visible, the spiritual and the physical, are woven together in a sacred pattern - realms separated by a soft veil. Painting surreal creatures - flowers birds and insects and using ink and pigment patterns from river water,

I have recently been creating works inspired by Glastonbury Tor - the sacred air above, and the mythic, enchanted waters that once surrounded this magical ancient land of Avalon. But the veil of above and below, echo in every culture. Every country. And I wish to bring this thought alive to all who care to question".

Lyndsay's  art is not cold, computer-digitalised creations, but hands-on creative conjuring that plays with perceptions and the parameters of reality.
